2020 Preston Community Fund Grants Announced

December 9, 2020

THE POWER OF COMMUNITY AND COMPASSION

New London, CT – The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut (CFECT) is pleased to announce the 2020 Preston Community Fund grant awards. One of more than 550 funds at the Community Foundation, the Preston Community Fund supports the arts, and cultural and social needs of the residents and organizations of the Town of Preston.

Five nonprofits received a total of $3,530: Amos Lake Association, Catholic Charities, Preston Public Library, The Preston Historical Society, and United Community & Family Services. These grants will support projects including a water quality maintenance project, emergency basic needs and case management, access to literature, new signage, and pop-up food pantries.

The Preston Community Fund was originally established in 1991 with funds given by the former American Ref-Fuel Company of Southeastern Connecticut to help support the varied nonprofit and civic organizations in town, under the guidance of an advisory committee of Preston residents. In 2015, the advisory committee voted to transfer the fund to the Community Foundation and retain its role as advisors to this permanently endowed fund, in making annual grants to benefit Preston residents.
